Filling in the checkout from South Africa

Yes — a purchaser in South Africa can order for a recipient anywhere we deliver in BC. Checkout keeps two addresses apart, and the order goes wrong only when they're mixed:

  • Payer: name as on the card, street address, suburb, city and postal code, postal code — in billing.
  • Receiver: name, Canadian street address, city, BC, a postal code like V6B 1A1, and their own phone number — in delivery; the driver or courier rings the receiver.
  • Sender line: your name goes on the greeting card, and the packing slip carries no prices.

The charge, in plain terms

The price tagEvery price is CAD. The switcher covers USD, GBP, EUR, AUD and JPY only, not South African rand; treat the CAD number as the real one.
On your statementThe transaction is in Canadian dollars: gift, Canadian tax and the delivery fee for the recipient's address, shown up front. Conversion to South African rand — and any charge for it — is your bank's, at a rate the store neither sets nor sees.
Payment methodsThe store shows Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club and JCB (2026-09-15). South Africa-issued cards are fine; use the address the card is registered to.
ExcludedImport fees, duty and customs — none, since nothing is shipped across a border. The recipient is not asked to pay.

How soon can it get there?

The recipient's postal code goes here — it's checked against the delivery service the checkout runs on, which reports same-day or courier and the days.

In by 11:00 a.m. Pacific: same-day anywhere in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, free delivery over $100 ($15.99–$19.99 below). Anywhere else in BC: the courier, one to three business days, order by 2 p.m. Pacific, shipping priced at checkout.

Delivery timing, in your time

The clock that matters is the recipient's — Pacific Time. Vancouver and the Lower Mainland: same-day when the order lands by 11:00 a.m. Pacific, every day of the week, with businesses served no later than 5 p.m. and homes no later than 9 p.m. Rest of BC: courier, shipped the same day for orders by 2 p.m. Pacific (weekdays), one to three business days in transit. Translated into your time for September 17, 2026:

Today on this device: for same-day, for courier (your device's time zone: ).

Note the table is for the date above (daylight saving on either side moves things by an hour); the live line above it is today's. Checkout wants the recipient's date, Pacific time: if Vancouver is already past 11 a.m., same-day means tomorrow there. Days off: Sept 30 (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation); Thanksgiving, Mon Oct 12; Remembrance Day, Nov 11; Christmas Day; Boxing Day; New Year's Day.

Characters: what prints and what the driver can read

Although English, Afrikaans and Zulu are what people speak in South Africa, the store operates in English from checkout to delivery label.

  • The card. Any language is fine as long as it uses Latin letters; it prints exactly as typed.
  • Buyer's name and address. In Latin letters, matching the card statement.
  • Recipient's name and address. Latin letters only — the label and the courier's scanners are English, and a name in another script can't be matched at the door.
  • Phone numbers. The recipient's Canadian number (area code included) in the delivery fields; your own may use the South Africa country code.

Three practical things

Checking progress

Enter the email address you ordered with and the postal code on the order on Order Tracking. If a just-placed order isn't there yet, wait a few minutes, then ask support, quoting the order number from your confirmation.

Getting help

Reach customer support at [email protected] or +1 (604) 636-0960, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific, seven days a week — the hours the store publishes (read 2026-09-15). For September 17, 2026, in South Africa time that is:

  • South Africa (SAST): 3:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. the next day

Alcohol

Recipients aged 19 or over (BC's legal drinking age) can receive wine, champagne, beer and spirits anywhere in the province. The rules at the door: photo ID from someone 19+, never left unattended, an adult signature for courier deliveries, and a re-attempt or hold when nobody of age answers. Kosher wine and alcohol-free gourmet baskets are on the store as well.

Answers for a sender in South Africa

Can I pay with a card issued in South Africa?

Yes — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club and JCB are accepted from a South African billing address. The charge is in Canadian dollars; your bank converts it.

Could the recipient get a bill for customs or delivery?

No — there's no border crossing, so no customs, duty or import fee. Delivery is free on orders over $100 in the same-day zone, and courier shipping is charged to you at checkout.

What time is the cut-off, in my time?

The table above shows it: 11:00 a.m. Pacific for same-day in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, 2 p.m. Pacific for courier to the rest of BC (one to three business days), each converted for South Africa.

The checkout asks for a date — which calendar?

The recipient's, i.e. Pacific time. Pick the day the gift should reach them; after 11 a.m. in Vancouver the earliest same-day date becomes the following day.

Is alcohol allowed in the gift?

Yes, when the recipient is 19 or older. Photo ID is checked at the door and alcohol is never left unattended.

Across the province

Hand delivery the same day in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland (Vancouver, Surrey, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and more); courier everywhere else in BC. The places we deliver to most each have a page of their own — Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Langley, Pitt Meadows, Courtenay.
